About the solution
Aulis had always found the steam in a sauna relieved his condition. In 2010 when he tried resistive breathing, the inventor realized the a powerful effect combining the two could have. So he built a prototype for personal use, and then Aulis understood its commercial potential.
“In my early age, I found that sauna eased up my breathing, so I became a very eager sauna man. Later I concluded that steam somehow had beneficial effect on my breathing problems. Once I had to seek help from the local medical centre to my difficult congestion, a nurse gave me a bottle and a tube and encouraged me to blow into the bottle, filled with some 20 cm of water. Suddenly that eased up my wheezing. Then I got the idea of merging these two beneficial methods in a way that they worked complementary. Once resisted exhaling opens up the airways, the steam gets its way deep into them. Now steam inhalation has true meaning when the airways are open to receive moisture. I just had to design a device allowing to use those methods effectively and complementarily”, Aulis explained.
The invention works by the user pouring water into the device, choosing the preset temperature for the vapor and adjust the breathing resistance. Then he must start the WellO2 breathing exercise by exhaling slowly through the mouthpiece into the device until your lungs are empty. Finally the user breathes slowly in the vapor, and repeats the breathing exercise 10-15 times.
So the inventor gathered a team and founded his company – Hapella – In order to produce and commercialize the product.
Hapella is already negotiating with potential distribution partners outside Finland and plans to launch Wello2 across the Nordics and German-speaking countries in 2017.
Wello2 is now available at pharmacies and Tekniset-shops.
